Training days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights between 6pm – 8:30pm. Training is normally 1 night per week and lasts for about 1 hour. The exact time and day of your training will be at the discretion of the team coach. They need to arrange training on a day and time that suits both themselves and the team.
Please remember that ALL COACHES ARE VOLUNTEERS.
Grading is a structured skills and fitness assessment process that enables our coaches to understand how best to cater to the individual and group skill levels. It allows our coaches to tailor their training sessions appropriately placing equally skilled players together in a squad enabling them to develop faster and more confidently.
We do not as a general rule undertake grading for every child and if a child prefers to play with their friends then they can.
The coaches of the Miniroos teams are usually team parents. The Miniroos rules are very simple to allow the young players to have fun without pressure and the same applies to the parent helpers/team leaders as well.
The competitive teams are usually coached by people with more experience, sometimes parents or ex players and sometimes even current players.
100% of our coaches are volunteers and of these, some are qualified coaches and the others are awesome parents who volunteer their time to coach teams.

The two clubs were combined in 1995 and were then called Mascot Kings Soccer Club and our home ground became L’Estrange Park in Mascot.
We have teams ranging from Under 6 to Under 12 years in the Miniroos format for both boys and girls (mixed teams), Junior competitive teams from Under 13 to Under 18 years (including girls only teams). Then we have All Age Men’s, Over 30 Women’s, Over 35 Men’s and Over 45 Men’s teams.

The soccer year runs from January to December. Whatever age your child will be at December 31st of the current year will be the age group in which they will play.
For example, a child who turns 6 years old on 1 January will play in the same age group as a child who turns 6 years old on 31 December of the same year.Additionally, a child is eligible to play in the 6 years age group as long as they turn 5 before 31 December of the current year.
Teams train at our home ground, L’Estrange Park (Cnr King and Sutherland Sts, Mascot). Training days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights between 6pm – 8:30pm. Training is normally 1 night per week and lasts for about 1 hour.
The exact time and day of your training will be at the discretion of the team coach. They are volunteers and need to arrange training on a day and at a time that suits both themselves and the team.
The start and finish date of each season varies slightly but generally commences late March/early April and finishes mid August for non-competition ages and late August/early September for finals.
This will vary slightly each season and with weather. Generally games are not played during the school holidays or public holidays. However, due to weather and catch up games there may be a need to do so.
It is ESFA that makes determinations relating to these matters and sets the draw timetables.
If it’s raining on the morning of your game or training session or has been raining overnight we suggest you check our Facebook page for updates. We only provide updates on L’Estrange Park. If you are playing away then you will need to contact your Coach, or the local Council’s wet weather service. If parks are closed there is no training or playing of games.
Players are permitted to wear sports glasses when playing or training. Regular glasses must not be worn.
MINIROOS FORMAT (6-12 years) 6 and 7 years age groups play intra club which means they will play at L’Estrange Park for home games and rotate with some other local grounds like Maroubra, Waverley and Matraville on Saturday mornings.
8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 years age groups also play on a Saturday but they play inter club which means they play a Home and Away system. In some age groups, there may be an occasional game on a Sunday to accommodate a Club, some of whose children are unable to play on a Saturday.
The all Girl competition play exclusively on Sundays (only for U8 to U18).
COMPETITIVE AGE GROUPS (13 years – Over 35)All play a Home and Away system.
13 to 15 years age groups play at various times on a Saturday, again with an occasional game on a Sunday for the reason explained above.
16 and 18 years, All Age Men, All Age Women and Over 35/45 Men’s teams all play on Sunday. There are some All Age Men teams that play Saturday and O35 Men Division 1 play on a Friday night.
LINK TO FIXTURES
The Eastern Suburbs Football Association schedules all matches on behalf of over 20 clubs in the area. Those officials coordinate where, when and who plays, NOT us. Please be mindful of this when enquiring about fixtures, especially about games washed out due to rain. ESFA has to squeeze in catch-up games among the regular playing schedule. ESFA staff do their best to accommodate all preferences and they do a good job at being fair. We all need to be flexible when attending games. The club notifies coaches and managers about games but you can also check the official draw through the Dribl Match Centre (online or download the app).
We are a member of ESFA so please direct your enquiries to the club before contacting ESFA. It will be quicker and we'll get an opportunity discuss your feedback and rectify anything first.
There is a list of very useful rules, regulations, and frequently asked questions on the Eastern Suburbs Football Association website.
